Just Lost My Job For Filing Job Apllications

Title pretty much sums it up; I worked as a Assistant Manager/Accounts Manager for this loan office for almost 9 months. I started at $12 an hour and for the last few months was pressing them about raises, and they wouldn't give anything certain (We've been discussing, working on it, etc.). Anyway, earlier this month was the last straw. I was told that occasionally (and they used that term very loosely) I would need to travel to cover other loan office branches as needed. I had up to that point, covered every branch they asked me to cover (some being over 100 miles away) and was asked to cover a branch for just a day (this one was closer to 70 miles away) I said sure, since I figured it would be reflected that I never turned down a request.

Well, “just today” turned into 3 days of me driving 70 miles twice a day and included that big winter storm that hit Missouri. I had asked in advance if I could leave early that day and the best they could do was 2 hours early. It took me over 3 hours driving on ice covered interstates and state highways before I got home. What's even better, was when on the following Monday when I was basically still recovering from a panic attack, my regional manager had the bright idea of posting to all emplyees a table of branch stores, and included highlights on one's that were underperforming (including mine) and asked us to contact him.

I did, explained everything. And all I got was a, “I didn't know.” After that, I started putting applications early before my shift, and after.

Now, in hindsight I probably should not have used the company computer, but I did not expect them to be this petty about my job hunting when they wouldn't even try to pay more than slightly above minimum wage. On top of which, their, “on paper” reason for firing me was my poor performance, meanwhile other branches were only making 30-60 calls yesterday when our minimum is 100.

Okay, rant over. Thankfully I already have 2 interviews set up within the week.

TL;DR: Had to-and-back drive to a branch 70 miles away and cover for 3 days (during a snowstorm on 1 of those days), got beratted for underperforming the following week (due to stress), and got fired for using a company computer to submit applications, but putting on paper that it was because of my poor performance all while other branches were performing significantly worse than mine the day before.
