hi guys!!! i had a very irritating day at work and i wanted to share and wanted some advice.
today my general manager (i work retail, pretty laid back job it’s a couples store!!) started questioning me and the fact i didn’t answer another higher up employees message about coming in on a day i did not work ! I ignored it like a good noodle and basically told them i have my phone on dnd and don’t respond to work texts unless i’m scheduled for the day or if the store owner messages me. but even then most of the times i ignore that too.
he got pretty irate with me and told me that i was insinuating it was their responsibility.. (which it is?) and i just kept telling him i guess and i suppose to try and keep conflict and confrontation to a minimum. he started getting red in the face and telling me that it doesn’t show me as a good employee to do that- and that this is the real world ‘government name’. as if i am five years old LMFAO??? basically insinuating that i guess i should be waiting around my phone 24/7 365 days a year for them to ask me to
come in. i tried to reason with him and was like well maybe that’s how you feel as a manger you have more responsibility but it’s not really like that for me i’m just a basic employee. he didn’t like that either i eventually was just like ok and walked away because why continue this conversation with a brick wall. (extra info; i’m part time four days 30 hours and i make the least amount of money out of all my coworkers
even tho i’ve worked their longer than about a third of them- ((all because i was 18 when hired))which i feel is also another reason to feel absolutely no obligation to them.)
final question; is there anything i can do about this in the future? any way i should’ve approached it differently ? thanks :,)
