I'm sitting here in an industry digital conference. The conversation has turned to retaining workers. One of the major speakers mentioned it's hard to keep people because the Burger King down the road is offering $20 an hour.
Another speaker mentioned that they like to give little gifts like branded things or gum, mints, etc etc. IE the small BS things that most people lie or are brainwashed to appreciate. He said that his workers responded positively to them. I bet he just isn't able to properly see fake thanks like when you get a terrible birthday present.
The answer is simple. If you are losing workers to Burger King. Pay more than Burger King! Can't afford to pay more than Burger King? Charge more for your products and services and keep your leaderships' pay reasonable.
Capitalism is so short sighted. Even if you have to pass the cost of higher wages to your customers. Your employees and everyone elses employees will have more money to cover that higher cost.
