I've officially hit a breaking point. I'm at the point where my ability to feed my family and live in a home is being threatened and I've done everything the system told me I should do.
I've been working at my current job for 10 years, I worked my ass off to get a lower level management position that I've been working for 3 years. During my tenure I worked full time, had a family, went to school full time etc etc, not being one bit “lazy”. All efforts have been excellent, all my results and achievements have been excellent, but not for me. I would be easily identified as one of the companies best employees, I've improved this company and saved them millions of dollars.
Since the pandemic business boomed. We increased monthly revenue by $4 million each month while costs only went up $700,000. The PROFIT they gain off of just my work is $10,000+ a week. When I approached my boss for a meaningful raise so i could take my family of 4 out of my parents basement and get a home I was shot down because “I'm already at the maximum hourly rate for the position”. I was than told I could work as much overtime as I needed to make things work without question so I've worked 50+ hours each week for 2 years without break because losing any of those hours results in me going bankrupt. I got into the housing market with that promise because I NEEDED to get a home and get out of my parents basement.
Next week is the first week in 3 years where it looks like it will be a little slow. I was approached 2 days ago and was told the company can no longer finance all of my overtime and that I don't have enough work to justify writing that overtime DESPITE THE FUCKING FACT THEY PUSHED ME UNTIL THAT POSITION AND NECESSITY. I told them I would lose $200 a week, that I wouldn't be able to feed my family, that I would lose my home. Didn't fucking matter.
One of the company mottos is caring for other people, the slogan is whenever, wherever, we make people's lives better. Like fucking hell, complete and utter horseshit.
The cherry on top, the big wigs for the company make many times more than anyone here combined but only work 1 day a week and are unavailable the rest of the time.
I've recently graduated college and have been job hunting in earnest but receive nothing back as response. I've even interviewed at one place and they all but told me the job was mine than never contacted me again and will not respond to me.
Fuck this system, fuck working hard, fuck the mentality that's its not luck or privilege. Hard work nets you nothing, it just gives to those who control you. There is no reward, just enslavement and misery. The dream is gone, there is no promise.
TLDR: even if you work your ass off and do everything the system tells you to do, you went succeed unless your scum or lucky or both. Integrity is bullshit.
