I just saw this and had to share. Couldn't find any English sources yet so I'll try to translate.
KLM luggage workers are holding an unexpected “wild” strike at Schiphol airport (Amsterdam) starting this morning (so within a few hours ago).
It's about 150 workers and 7 KLM flights have been cancelled at the time of this article. They're on strike because of bad working conditions, Thursday they received an email that the work is going to be outsourced due to staff shortage. The workers are saying the staff shortage is due to the bad working conditions.
The FNV (union) did not organize the strike, but isn't surprised. At a recent member meeting, the members expressed not accepting the huge work pressure anymore and demanding real solutions. They're demanding a conversation with the KLM director, FNV said they can act as a mediator.
Today is the first day of the May vacation, one of the airport's busiest days of the year.
