I currently work as tech support for one of the top 5 largest and most profitable companies in the world and did not receive severance. I with some of my colleagues were all unexpectedly laid off. I am employed at this company through a third party vendor that provides them with tech support for their most profitable service. The Lay offs were not do to performance (which was made clear). The job market being as volatile as it is I am very unsure how I am going to survive these next few months as we were underpaid so I have not had the chance to accrue much savings. I have spoke with HR and they have told us “its just not in the budget to provide severance”. I want to continue to push back if anyone has any advice to negotiate for severance or what I should do please advise.
Edit: I have a meeting with HR next week so I am mainly posting this for tips on negotiating severance.
