I’m at the start of the 3rd week at my new job and my boss called me over today to sign a new comp plan bc I was given the wrong one (my original contract) I make a salary plus commission. For the first month it states I would receive a guaranteed commission, $x,xxx. The new contract states I would receive around $850 less. The HR VP happened to be in office and we met with my boss and the hr person who sent the contract. They were Very defensive from the beginning and stated people make mistakes and I would as well?? I was clearly upset and felt as though they tried to mislead me into signing it. Then the hr vp asked if this was really about $850? I was appalled. Then stated (rudely) if that’s what is was about she would pay the $850 but only if I signed a document stating I would pay it back if I quite voluntarily within 6 months? I felt pressured and uncomfortable and said I needed time to think about it. A lot more happened but I will spare you, I just want to see if anyone knows if they can force me or fire me if don’t. Are there any options?
Edit: I wanted to add I asked my boss multiple times if the guaranteed commission for the month was changing (even bringing up that section to show them on my phone)they told me I was confused and that was a different part and urged to sign. When I reviewed the document and I was correct that’s when I went back over to inquire and show again. I was told the same thing, that I was wrong and that’s not what was changing. 3 times over the course of the conversation and they acted offended and that’s when they pulled the other two into an office with me. HR was also very rude about the whole situation and acted as though I was ridiculous for being upset about $850. And I made it clear it was also how the situation was being handled.
