Leaving a job – when do I give my notice to avoid retaliation

Good afternoon – I have been working at a job remotely for the past 18 months. During this time I have had some ups and downs. I was promoted to project manager in March, and I stepped down within two months' time. They wanted to pay me $22 an hour on salary but expected 45-50 hours a week of work which puts me at less than what my employees were making at $17 an hour. I didn't feel the amount of stress was worth the exceedingly long list of my daily todos, hiring, training, coaching/QA, and being on call 7 days a week. They were disappointed I made this decision of course because I wasn't willing to be their work b%tch. I started passively looking for work at the time this change happened because they started giving me the cold shoulder and being jerks. I had the TOP performance numbers…

I had the TOP performance numbers on all the campaigns I was placed on and consistently was killing numbers. No recognition.

Then I got my annual review – I got a $1 raise but the review was snarky, spoke down on me for missing work due to Covid in February and they made some rude remarks about my overthinking things and some other personal hits, not professional. I accepted it and moved on.

However, during this time frame, I got contacted by a recruiter for a job working as a contracted employee at GM. It went VERY well and today I was offered the position starting on October 31. This means I will have to put a 2-week notice in by Monday for a proper farewell. I am very concerned they may retaliate for the remainder of my time with them or fire me on the spot. I don't know the best way to approach this. The CEO was close to me while I was PM – I wonder if I should request a meeting including him and my direct boss who happens to be the COO of the company. I just want to avoid any BS and games during my last two weeks with them.

I also have 40 hours of sick time. I am considering getting a doctor's note to get me off work the last week since I can get it paid. I'm thinking my doctor might work with me on that. They will not pay me out of the earned sick time when I leave.

Any feedback or thoughts on people's experiences in similar situations would be appreciated. Thank you! (I CANNOT WAIT TO PEACE OUT THESE SONS OF B'S)
