Legal Recourse for Retaliation? HELP

If anyone has any employment law experience, please advise! I don't want this to be long but I work for a nonprofit organization that is trying to push me out. I live in California and have been working at my current job for less than 5 years without much issue. This job is extremely draining and has no regard for work-life balance. Therefore, I have been exercising boundaries like ensuring I use vacation/sick/personal days, for example. Another important boundary I made was to no longer have coworkers on my social media. That was a year ago and just recently I set another boundary of no longer carpooling with coworkers because I was doing all the driving. Now there is a target on my back and my boss had a meeting with me to “check in” and see if everything is okay as well as to get my side of the story.

My boss came up with a slew of claims against me that are unfounded and open to interpretation because it is a coworker's word against mine. I know that these issues have only come to light after I set a personal boundary, and now I am experiencing this form of retaliation. During our meeting, I explained that I do not agree with the allegations. It was all subjective things like the tone of communication and not engaging with coworkers. Even though they all do not like me, I have just been professional and cordial and I always make sure to do my job. Even though they were basically attacking me, I voiced that all of those claims could not be further from the truth and none of these issues were brought up to me before when addressing them would have been effective. I thought after the meeting was all well and done, we would move on but my boss sent me an email “for my record” of all the concerns that were mentioned and an action plan to address them.

This is concerning because those issues were one-sided and I do not agree with them. The damage is done and now they are waiting for any slip-up as a gotcha to add to the list because now there is a record. Additionally, a former coworker was let go once his contract was over after a case was built against him (he deserved it though). Do I have any possible recourse here? I do not feel comfortable working in this environment and I am scared of being let go in the next few months. FYI, this type of organization is one that always keeps staff employed. Prior to the former coworker being let go, it had never occurred in the history of the organization. There were just too many complaints against him. Now, the target is on my back. If you need more information, please message me.

Thank you
