Hello Everyone,
This is my first Reddit post but I am having a hard time processing why I was let go from my job after a month at this company. Just a quick background. I was hired at this job this past April for a entry level analyst role for a mid-sized company (800-900 employees) where a recruiter reached out via LinkedIn. I ended up accepting this role as I didn’t really want to do anymore interviews so I let the other companies know that I had accepted this job & thanked them for the opportunity to interview. I have 14 months experience of work as a Project Analyst at a much smaller company where I was laid off due to budget constraints and that was my first job after college. This company on Glassdoor had a 3/5 score & hires a lot of new graduates. When negotiating salary they were very reluctant to match my old salary at my previous role but I accepted a little lower salary instead. This company had a very outgoing vibe with lots of team activities and a very in depth career track & quarterly reviews. It gave off a vibe similar to going to college. On top of this they had a lot of random drug screenings & did alcohol breathalyzer tests as well. I was paired with another new hire who was a older guy during onboarding and we were assigned to a project and did training with our new project manager/lead. We were told that our main orientation wouldn’t be until next month as they need a certain amount of new hires to do the main orientation. During those 3 weeks we did a lot of training in regard to security, and the basis of the project as well as readings. I tend to be introverted & not a talker but I asked questions & gave my piece/previous knowledge on the trainings as I had a background on the project scope when we had our meetings. The other times we had done readings at our desk & nobody really checked in on us. After this we had our orientation where they had speakers telling us about the company culture as well as having team activities for 3-4 days. I had noticed during orientation my older coworker who was hired with me was not there all week but assumed he might have been sick or had other responsibilities. After orientation was finished I wasn’t really given any work so I reached out for any work to do where I was sent some stuff to start out with. The next day I was messaged by someone in the company who I wasn’t familiar with for giving orientation feedback. I was brought in to the meeting with a HR lady as well as some muscular guy and was briefly told in a 15 min meeting I was let go as they felt I was not doing well/not a good fit & because I was tardy by 5-8 mins a couple times to the orientation ( I live 50 mins away in a major city) and they had discussed this with my project manager as well and higher ups as well. I was shocked at this but they didn’t allow me to ask questions on why this happened and told me to email any questions & they hurriedly kicked me out. I’d like to believe I’m on top of my stuff and am pretty upset at what happened. Just wanted to get any advice or any tips if this has happened to anyone and how to bounce back from this.
