A co-worker's dog passed away. She was devastated and asked to take a few days to grieve. Manager said there's no bereavement leave policy for pets so she'll have to use her vacation days. She escalated this to the head of the group and he basically let her take 3 days off and not log it in. Her co-worker found out and was pissed. Then she basically went around to bad-mouth her to everyone saying how she's getting special treatment and how unfair it is for everyone else who had a pet die and didn't take time off.
It makes me sad when employees turn on each other. We're all on the same side fighting for the same things. We shouldn't fight amongst each other.
