Lied to about wage in job interview?

I just started working at a certain coffee place in a certain grocery store chain (not Target). After the phone screening and during the interview, I was told that my pay would be $16/hr + tips. I learned halfway through my first shift that we are actually not in fact allowed to accept tips as we are technically grocery chain employees and not coffee chain employees. It ‘wouldn’t be fair’ to the non-coffee place workers for us to receive tips, which sounds like a can of worms in itself. My interviewer denies having said such a thing but I am 95% confident they did (possibly my phone screener?) as obviously, pay is incredibly important to me and I have evidence of texting a friend about it immediately after getting out.
