Listening to different view points

So I try to listen to diverse podcasts so I can get better visibility on diverse view points. I’m basically a normie, live in suburbia, wear a suit and have a bullshit, achieve nothing job. I do some gardening, have some chickens, etc Anyway I was listening to “the survival podcast” and the host Jack noted his system of self reliance as a percentage. E.G I grow 10% of my own food. I thought that was a great way of looking at as for those of us without a homestead it could be seen as a great way of getting some independence in that if you have say 30 days worth of food saved (not amazing food but shelf stable long life stuff) and you are 8.33% self reliant for a year.. I donno, just an idea I thought was intriguing.
