Living on the road instead of normal life

*THIS POST IS A SUGGESTION, NOT A “Pick yourself up by your bootstraps” POST* I have thought about doing this for fun, but I wanted to share it to others to see if it could help someone who maybe hasn't considered it. I wouldn't say I'm exactly 'anti work' (admittedly) but for those in this sub that are, have you given any thought to reframing your life such that you either don't need to work or you can minimize the amount you need to do? For instance: you live out of your car for a year and use the money you would have spent to save up for a van that you can put a mattress in and be more comfortable. Assuming you stay in the same area/location, this van (old, used ones can be maybe $2000-3000 USD) could easily be kept in usable condition, since you won't be commuting…

Assuming you stay in the same area/location, this van (old, used ones can be maybe $2000-3000 USD) could easily be kept in usable condition, since you won't be commuting every day (500 miles a year? max). Get a planet fitness membership ($10/month) and use that to shower.

You could literally fill your time with crafts, hobbies, whatever you wanted to do, needing to only work for maybe 5-10 hr a week.

To add to this, if you lived in your van and continued to work for another year, you could save that money to live off of for years, assuming you budget it accordingly.

Minimum wage hasn't legally increased, but at this point, the lowest I've seen anywhere hire someone is for around $10/hr. Living in your van, that would be over 20k (you get all your taxed money back at end of year). dividing by 24, that puts you at $850 a month for TWO YEARS.

your life wouldn't be glamourous, but you would be free as a bird. Work one year, take 2 off, work another, take 2 off.

Can you live off $850 a month? Assuming you go to a grocery store for your food and buy non-perishables, that is $27 a day. I could definitely live off that, with money left over for clothes, gas, a cheap cell phone.

Also, I understand that you would still have expenses during your 'working' year, but you could either work >40 hr, or just shorten your “off time” to 1 year or 1.5 years.
