Holy hell buckle up.
Long story short. Lost job 2 weeks ago, my old mentor opened a recruiting biz to place EAs with CEOs which is what I was doing before so I hit her up for a remote part time EA role as I recently became a new mom.
Friday I interviewed with CEO. He wasn't even sure he wanted an EA I told him to take the weekend to think about what tasks he would want help with. 10 mins later recruiter calls asks if I'll fly from FL to DC Monday. After lots of consideration I decided let's just go for it see what happens. Mind u my gut was very against this. They also promised me $900 just to make the trip so fuck it.
They rushed it so like I guess they really needed help asap. Nope got here last night around 7. Hung out went to the company apartment hung out with a bunch of people who don't even work for the company and whom I have nothing in common but w.e. He told me let's meet 9:30AM in a conference room so I do. He doesn't come down and around noon he sends his COO to grab me who was like “why are u down here” I'm like I've been waiting where he told me to. Then they onboard me to all company tools and announce to company that im a new hire even though we never went over duties nor did I accept a job…. so whatever I wait around we grab lunch and then ceo is just gone once again so why did I fly here so urgently? Idk…so I talk to COO who u can tell is also like wtf and was saying they want me to fly up 1x a month for a fucking part time job ummmm what? I was interested because this was initially a remote job and I could wfh with daughter. Long story short I quietly booked a flight got my shit and am at the airport rn and wasn't supposed to leave till 2m
Wtf even just happened?
TLDR last min flew from FL to DC for a “working interview” was sketch AF and I'm at airport now flying home early.
