So let me just say, I obviously “just don’t want to work”, to start off.
I am a truck driver, I have been for just over 16 years now, though I started when I was WAY under legal age working with my dad. (No complaints about that, loved it)
Recently, I have left a couple of jobs back to back, fairly quickly, and I’ve been called more names than I thought I ever would. First, I left a job hauling frac sand for a company that told me I would be making 10,000-12,000 monthly. I left there after making only $8,700 in 3 months, and was told I just didn’t work hard enough, even though I literally spent two full months away from home working every day.
Now more recently, I left a job that hauled a product called production water because the owner literally doesn’t have insurance on his trucks. I repeatedly asked for an insurance card in the event that I get pulled over and I was brushed off, finally I used that covered “stop work” authority and was told that I’d be fired if I didn’t get in the truck and drive. I told them no, because a ticket of that nature goes against me. Now they’re withholding my pay, saying I didn’t earn it.
Then everyone tells me “You just don’t want to work”—Nevermind that I’ve worked 60+ hours every week since I was 19 year old, have more broken bones, scars and other evidence of a hard life of blue collar work. These fucking people make me sick.
Sorry for the rant, know im gonna catch hate from the community, but had to say it somewhere.
