My girlfriend moved in with me from another country to do school here. She has been looking for work since September. Got hired for a seasonal retail job in November, but it fell through and didn't work out. Its getting to the point where we are getting desperate. Does anyone else feel like job searching is one of the most dehumanizing thing ever? I feel so sad for her, I know what it feels like, but the pressure on her is insane because she's unable to help me with groceries and rent right now. Her dad back home was helping with rent, but he's unable to reliably now, and I dont blame him.
We are applying to every shit min wage job thats part time, online, in person, going to job fairs. Her resume is good and she has lots of customer service experience. Managers say they'll contact you within 48 hours of an interview than ghost you. Its just so frustrating, depressing, and like a dark cloud over your head. I know eventually something will come up, but its taken much longer than we both expected. Having to give up so much time trying to get hired at a job where you get paid poverty wages with no benefits or appreciation whatsoever sucks, and I really pray this ends soon, for her sake. Its really effecting her mental health.
Is anyone else in this position right now? If so, how do you stay positive?
