I was just off for a week ill with tonsilitis, this happened to be the week off the queens funeral which I was informed my work would be closed on Monday due to a bank holiday.
I just returned today to find out that because I was off sick on friday and tuesday, that I would also be counted as sick on Monday and will lose a days pay. Even though my work was shut, if I had tried to work that day I would not have been able to, and on top of that I'm not entitled to an additional day off.
I've been told by parents that this is not only standard practice, but also fair as I was sick on that day. But to me, I wasn't off sick that day because I wasn't due in?
