Made More Unemployed Than as a Sergeant

Left military about 15 years ago. My take-home as a married sergeant living off base was $3,000. Upon getting out I had the following income: $1,500 in unemployment $1,100 in lifetime disability $1,500 in GI Bill payments to go to school One day, I get a call from the unemployment office to go over shittily-made my applications, and I'm like, “I'm good.” I wasn't going to trade $375 a week for nothing to make $375 a week doing a job that took me out of the house for up to 12 hours a day? Far as I'm concerned, the 6 months unemployment was a benefit of my time – no different than the GI Bill that I paid for (no joke, the old GI Bill required us to have $100 taken from our pay for a year; I opted for a “kicker” that took more).
