Make antiwork (even more of )a driving force

After the unfortunate interview event, the growth of the sub kinda took a downturn. It's still growing, but it did some damage to the sub's reputation I guess. Since I'm sure there are countless of people who are unhappy with their jobs, including jobs higher up in the corporate world, it would be good to start the ball rolling again. The great resignation is one example of people choosing their own happiness and satisfaction over the demands of the office. Offices could actually be a lot more productive if they implemented a personalized way to work, instead of a one-size-fits-all work culture. The latter means people who do not enjoy this office culture HAVE to adapt to survive, which costs a lot of energy and results in lost productivity. An office would be better served by taking the strengths of each employee and actually listening to what works for the employee…

An office would be better served by taking the strengths of each employee and actually listening to what works for the employee so they are more happy at work.

For example, the last 10-20 years have seen a rise in offices increasingly pushing “family culture” at work. Sure, this might be well-intentioned, but for some people this might make work actually more horrible. Instead of actually doing your work, you are now also expected to take part in team building, happy hours, trips away and other events, often in your private time. That's fine if you love the colleagues and manager you work with (i.e. you are already like friends/family), but if you're not, no amount of team building or forced interactions with people you dislike (for example because they took credit for your work, or threw you under the bus) is going to suddenly make you like them. In fact, due to the forced nature of such events, this may actually cause more friction than what it's trying to solve.

Same story for remote work. A lot of workers are more productive by working remotely, and sure, some people prefer to work in an office. Why not encourage people to do that what makes them feel best and makes them most productive, instead of forcing everyone in the same pattern? That, or accept that some companies will be specialized in remote work, and others in office work, so an employee can choose a company that fits their personality best. The constant need for companies to act the exact same as the next company (including all the buzz words and hype), makes me think company culture is just another buzz word, with little meaning.

Now that I ranted with some of my frustrations with the modern office, I think it would be good to have a movement that starts promoting rights for a personalized way of working which would make a lot of workers more happy in their work. I mean, we have personalized medicine, personalized food and training regimes, why not a personalized way to do you work? Now I have no idea how to start something like that, but if there are others that feel similarly, I would love to hear from you.
