Next week I will be the only manager at a small box store. We were already short one manager before corporate moved our store manager without replacing them, and our other manager is leaving due to health issues. Today I'm calling the GM for a raise and, more importantly, demanding a promotion for an associate they've refused to promote. There is no reason for their refusal to promote this person other than, I suspect, a personal vendetta on the part of our GM. This employee has been training me since there is no one else available or even capable of training me. If they don't give this employee a promotion then they won't have any managers at all. I'm not very confrontational so I'm a little nervous but I have nothing to lose, either I get the help I'm demanding or I never have to think about this place again, it's a win win.
