Management at the assisted living place I work in closed meal services and facilities for live-in residents to host an employee party.

I am a caregiver for a woman who lives here, so I don’t directly work for the company. When I went to order her dinner they said they were closing early so could only make a couple things, and later that night I saw this note posted. The main lobby and dining room that the elderly residents use to socialize was roped off with projectors and music going while the employees held their annual Christmas party. The letter also says that “employees and guests” will be using this space, so if employees were allowed to invite friends that heightens the risk of RSV, Covid, etc that these residents are being exposed to from hosting a company party in, essentially, their living room. Am I overreacting? Does this seem like inappropriate company policy?
