I have a consulting contract with a fixed number of days. Since I requested additional days to be added to my contract in order for it cover the project duration my manager has been giving me snide remarks, telling me I am paid too much (although my rate was not fixed by me but according to the organisation’s pay scale) and micromanaging me in a way that is making me feel I don’t do my job well enough. My manager then tells me no other consultants requested additional days (not true) and that they bill less days than they work (which unfortunately is what I was also doing).
Anyway, I don’t have much left to do for this project before I can finally pack up and close this chapter. But I just can’t find the energy to care enough to complete my remaining tasks. I don’t do well with this sort of unhelpful criticism but it’s making me look bad that I’m stuck in this paralysed state. Any advice?
