I have been seeing a lot of posts around the holiday period, of people being asked to contribute to a pot for a gift for management. I live in the UK and I have never seen, or been asked to do this before. Is it something common in other places? I don't see the point I getting something for a manager that would be more than a few quid or a box of chocolates. Is it expected in some places to get management something expensive and if so, why don't more people tell em to piss-off.
