I’m a delivery driver that drops off packages. I’ve only been doing it since November.
My manager is a guy who is burnt out and planned on leaving weeks ago but was convinced by corporate to stay.
Basically, every time I even talk to my manager he acts like I’m questioning him or telling him what to do when I’m simply asking questions because I want to know how things work. When I bring up things about the truck that need fixing he gets irritated. When I ask why I’ve been given a route with more stops than the other new people (which takes me a couple hours longer to finish) I’m told it’s because I’m good at my job.
But these other new people are paid the same as me. They show up an hour after me, leave after me, and when I get back around 4-6pm, they’ve been done for a couple hours already. And when I’ve been given 80-90 stops, I learned that they’ve been given half that much. So I asked my boss for a raise.
Yesterday my manager and I had a argument where he explained that he feels like I’m bothering him with all my communication and that I need to stop worrying about what everyone else is doing. Then complains about the shit he does to help us all out. All I said was 1) I don’t have time for drama, when I say something it’s literal and should be taken at face value. All I’m doing is keeping an open line of communication with you, yet you’re taking it as personal attack for some reason. 2) I want my raise because I was told I’m good enough at my job that it would have to be split between two people if I called out, yet I’m paid the same the same as people who aren’t as good. Then he replied saying that we need to learn to work together or we’re gonna have to work something out (hinting at me being fired).
Now I’ve been taken off my route and being stuck with someone else for additional “training”.
What a fucking joke.
