I recently got promoted to a lower management position at a hotel I work at. My pay got bumped up to $18 an hour from $16 when I was working night audit. I love the property and the people there, but I still talk to everyone about wages and I recently found out both the maintenance workers make $20 an hour. I'm the most senior employee at the hotel, even the general manager is new. I want to ask to get bumped up to at least $20, but the raise only happened in January. It's also my first management position, so I don't know if it would be better to lay low and farm the resume experience until I can find a better job. They also don't offer benefits. What do y'all think I should do? I don't struggle to pay my rent or bills or anything but I've carried this hotel through a lot of hardship and the owners seem to entrust me with a lot of things, even before I was management in title.
