Gonna keep this short and vague as I don’t want to give any breadcrumbs as to where I work. Also, apologies in advance, I’m typing this out on mobile.
My (40sF) direct manager placed hands on me (30sF) to physically move me (think moved my hands, arms, or body). It was forceful and aggressive and definitely done out of impatience as I was having technical problems on a couple devices. I was in shock and definitely didn’t know what to do, especially since it was done in front of my team during an in person meeting. So I acted as if it didn’t happen and moved forward with the meeting.
I did report to HR after the situation had happened but I am not really sure what to do. HR is essentially leaving it up to me how I want to deal with future interactions with her, but there hasn’t been guidance and I don’t really know what my options are. Having to deal with this has given me a ton of anxiety, since I feel like I’m in the spotlight and am guilty for putting this mark on her record. I know it’s not okay, I know it was completely inappropriate but I can’t help but feel guilty.
My ask is, how do I move forward? What can I ask myself to provide myself the best course of action for my career and work environment?
TLDR: manager put hands on me to forcefully move me
