I bartend events and paid decently hourly considering. Some shifts are solely bartending while some shifts involve bartending one well and bartending another well with a server. So bartender is working two wells. Server works with customers taking drink orders and preparing light finger food buffet style. Server is paid 60% more hourly + tips.
Issues- server wants to split tips 50/50 from both wells, while they only work with the one well. Bartender makes 75%-80% of drinks for the shared well (server makes the remaining) and 100% for second well.
How would you expect tip outs to be handled? 50/50 split with someone making 60% and hour more feels like giving my tips away.
Refusing this new way of tipping out until speaking with a manager, has resulted in shifts being taken away.
