Hey everyone! I recently finished reading the book called the Introduction to the Logic of Marxism by George Novack. I thought I would share the conclusions I reached based on the information I learned in the book. I write notes when I read so this is the end point. If you’re interested in the full notes just let me know. It’s very long and would be a strenuous read. I felt this belonged here and highlights the long term outlook of our class struggle we’re all experiencing in this sub.
Marxism conclusions
- Militant labor party is required to bring about proletariat revolution.
- Majority of workers have reached the consciousness of need for unions present day
- Needs of workers and wishes of capitalists are irreconcilable
- Small trade unions only focused on economic means will always fail. Big trade is interconnected with many systems beyond economic
- Party politics are unhelpful to the class struggle whether republican or democrat. Both serve the capitalists (this book was published 60 years ago )
- Political independence is the only path forward for workers. Creation of Labor political party as stated above (militant labor party)
- Socialism requires a political overthrow of capitalist control and mass congregation of the working class
