I am interviewing for an internal fully remote position on Monday
I am thinking about relocating to another state to be closer to family. However, there is an “approved states” list my employer goes by. The state I would be thinking about moving to is not one of states on the list
HOWEVER, there have been about five or six people who have been hired after me, in the same capacity as my position, that live in states that are not on the approved list.
My question is, should I mention it to the hiring manager? I would like to mention it just to put it out there. The recruiter I talked to told me that it would be a good thing to mention, plus I think I would have to talk to HR about it anyway.
But I didn’t want to mention it, in that it has an influence on whether they even offer me the position or not.
If I can’t be in the position and live in the state I’d like to relocate to, then I just stay where I am. It’s not that big of a deal. I guess I’m more so afraid to just ask. But then again, like I said, multiple people have been hired from states that are not on the approved list
What would you do?
