So, I went through some bouts of illness this winter, including Covid recently. My boss has taken personal offense and I'll basically be fired if I call out again within the next few months. The building however has a strict policy of DO NOT ENTER if you don't feel well. Catch 22. Play by the rules, get fired, ignore the rules, get fired.
I've been doing my best to kiss ass and get beyond this but every day they have some new inane complaint and they micromanage every aspect of my job now. It's very demeaning.
It is a Union job, but they are trying to get around that by documenting inane stupid crap near daily. They clearly intent to fire me but can't yet as Union rep is on vacation.
Anyone else been through similar? I plan to start job hunting this weekend, but meantime is it best to play along until Union meeting and let myself get fired then, or just resign ASAP? It's a decent paying job. I like my role and colleagues but my relationship with boss seems untenable. Already decided to fire me, far as I can tell.
The boss was always super chummy with me until a personal loss they suffered, has been a nightmare to deal with since. I don't see this improving, and think I'm leaving 1 way or another. Every damned damned day it's not just micromanaging, it's repeatedly doing it and making outlandish impossible to meet deadlines. This needs to be done by 10 am…. why haven't you done this other thing yet?!” Because I was working on topic A? It's become a hostile work environment with a veneer of “you're Union and we respect you” BS language in long bitchy emails.
Anyone else dealt with similar and have any advice?
