I recently got into it a little bit with a friend of mine. I’ve known him for years and he grew up extremely poor I saw him work hard to get to where he’s at. TBH if this is what we become once we start making real money I might just opt out bro.
He switched careers and went from making 200k to just over 100k and has been living extremely comfortable for way too long. He got a job as a regional manager for a fire suppression company. He was telling me about his new job and how much work these guys do and how they make such great money, $18 – $25 an hour.
Then I had to tell him that it wasn’t great money and everyone should be making a livable wage. His reply was just “they just do manual labor like it’s not that hard”. Like so the fuck what bro!?!? Just because a person does manual labor they don’t deserve to be able to provide for themselves and they family.
When he was thinking about switching careers he legit thought that 40k was a living wage in NYC. Had no idea what utilities cost, groceries, anything like that the rest are constantly sweating over. This man hasn’t had to check his bank account to see if he could afford anything he’s wanted in a decade. I’m really reconsidering our friendship now bro like for real.
