I know that there aren't much information coming out of this remote landlocked country that once purported to have spanned almost the entire Eurasian landmass, but hey, I have a story to share, and what better way to do it than to vent about how awful my employer is on r/antiwork.
As the title may have already given away, I'm from Mongolia, and I work for this large corporation (Tavan Bogd Group, these f****rs hold the right to franchise KFC and Pizza Hut in Mongolia) as a wage slave.
So, what happened was that I just had a 5 day unpaid leave so that I could attend to my health, rest up and just chill. I was supposed to clock in earlier today since my vacation had ended, but since our national healthcare service is woefully understaffed, the only available time for my doctor's check-up was coincidentally placed to this morning.
First thing in the morning, I text my senior manager that I couldn't come to work today because I had to visit the hospital for some medical reasons (nothing serious, x-ray, blood test and such, but the queue is just absolutely maddeningly long that it takes forever at any government facility).
He goes absolutely bonkers, and starts off swearing at me, saying s**t like: “You m********r, you were supposed to come in today”, “My grandma died a while ago, but I still came to work, and my wife can't walk because her feet are broken, yet I still come, because I have my priorities set straight and I never abandon my responsibilities unlike you”, “F**k you, you little b***h, I will judge you when you get here, I should have never approved your leave, and I absolutely won't from now on” and more.
The only times I ever got my unpaid leaves were when I was sick, or when my SO or mother got sick (I'm an only child, and I have always put my family ahead of any career decisions).
I think I'll be handing in my notice and just walk away. What's even worse is that no one in this goddamn country thinks of unionizing, since right-wing politics are strongly entrenched here and the people who actually got into the union are just corporate spies anyway. I'm so sick of this BS, and I think I'll put my happiness above any monetary benefits. (the pay is pitiful anyway, average salary here is around 350$ per month).
My position at this company is as a “foreign relations specialist”, but don't let this name fool you. The pay is awful, and while I'm no stranger to manual labor, they just make the office workers do the backbreaking work at warehouses and construction sites without any raises or additional payments. (Our company imports sanitary wares like toilets, bathtubs and stuff from China and Japan)
I once got really dressed up because I had a date with my wife later in the evening and got to work this way, but when 8 containers full of sanitary products came in from the customs warehouse to our gates, our boss just told us to unload them, and when I asked for a spare change of clothes, he threatened to dock my pay and called us “layabouts who are doing nothing all day”. (He basically justs sits on ass all day).
Sorry for going a bit off trail, but I'm just so fucking done. My notice will be on that fuck's desk tomorrow morning.
TL;DR: Mongolian thinking of quitting his awful job because his boss was a dick who tried to invalidate me because he actually went to work when his grandma died, because priorities?
