So for context; I am a 19 year old college student that works seasonally at a very nice restaurant. I don’t have much time to work a job for anything besides scholarship during the school months but I work my ass off in other areas. I’m a stem related major with a minor in chemistry and CLS, and I’m running for student body president next semester. I’m not lazy by any means but I’m also going to graduate with a bit of debt.
With that said, I just came back to this job last week. They immediately scheduled me for 35 hours in five days which doesn’t account for anything over ‘5 hour’ shifts (they are never that short). My second night shift I did not get off until 1 in the morning with a few other coworkers. We close at 10. It was miserable and I had a double shift the next day. The next morning I come in, and my corporate ass manager is talking about how after he LEFT AT 9 PM, he went to Nobu (VERY upscale sushi restaurant) with his girlfriend and spent hundreds of dollars on dinner. Waltzing around showing everyone the photos and such. It took literally everything in me not to just quit on the spot. He barely contributes at work and acts annoyed when you ask him for anything. Whatever, just wanted to complain.
Also, they scheduled me on both Christmas eve and Christmas and refuse to close the restaurant. Not ideal. Only get to see my family for a couple weeks and I’m gonna spend it wasting away at this god forsaken restaurant.
