I work a 0-hour, minimum wage job. The majority of the workforce is on the same contract as me. The hours can be insane – 10am – 9pm, 10am – 10pm, 9am – 11pm, etc… Monday night, our boss 'asks' us to help fix a managerial mistake and come in at 9am, instead of 10. Despite everyone being pissed off and already working insane hours, not to mention that we're under no obligation, I was the only person to turn them down. Every single other person begrudgingly agreed. Talking to them today, they're all telling me they wish they had 'the balls' to do as I did. I'm trying to convince them that, if they keep doing whatever is asked of them, taking it whenever they're spoken to like shit, etc, that it will not only never end, but it will be worse for everyone else. If I'm the only person saying no, my position is weaker. If everyone forms a united front, we will stop being treated this way. They all say they agree and want to 'be more like me' – how to convince them!?
