So my boss is super sexist, ageist, and ableist. The only people she is willing to interview and hire are teenage girls and homeschooling moms under 30. This leads to her complaining to me, the person who's hours she recently cut, about scheduling issues because these people call in all the time to take care of their sick kids or to get a day off last minute for a party and I have to just take it because if bring up the fact that she just fired a damn good full time employee for daring to use their sick days when they get sick (with a known medical condition) I will end up without a job.
I almost snapped at one of these kids last night because they were playing with the stapler and making fingernail extensions out of tape when, if they had no intention of doing their job, they could just play on the computer right in front of them or draw. I got so fed up with the constant staple noise that I handed her my keys to play with because it was less noise. We work in a library. It should be easy to slack off without being an annoyance. Just sit in the repair room and read or play on your phone like the last group of teens that worked here.
Idk. Maybe I am just bitter because she fired the only person who could run sucessful teen & adult programs and kept the library running. Now I am having carry my weight and the weight left by their absence (multiple times I have had to stay after our official closing time because the people she likes and will never punish didn't complete their assigned closing duties) only for her to say I am “stepping on people's toes” by stepping up to do those tasks. It doesn't help that I know she watches us at home via the security system, so I know she can see these people are not doing the work, yet she pulls the “well why didn't you tell me” card when, if I did, she would claim I am just making stuff up or trying to grt them in trouble.
