My boss confronted me about a prior incident

In short, I tried to diffuse a situation and was shushed by him. I asked him not to shush me. (I posted this previously in case anyone remembers the other post) Today, my boss and I talked for 40 minutes. He brought out random things about him feeling I was distracted and that I look like I don’t want to be here. He told me that he thought it had to do with what happened. He said “I googled it on the internet to see if shushing is so rude.” He proceeded to tell me he shushes everyone- his wife, kids, etc. I told him it was an uncomfortable situation because he was angry and I wanted to diffuse. And I also felt insulted to be shushed. He told me “I shouldn’t be angry, but you shouldn’t talk back to me” my reply was “maybe I shouldn’t, but I don’t…

The company I work for is getting rid of executives. My boss expressed his worry about it coming down to our level. I talked to someone about this interaction and they say they felt like he was trying ti make amends, but I’m not sure.
