My boss is asking me to take up extra activities due to personnel cuts he ordered

A few months ago i have been tasked to create a technical team. Somewhere in the middle of the process i was told to stop the recruitment and my team is now half the size of what was initially requested. Since the workload did not get cut in half, the guys from my team are overloaded. This is when my boss asked me if i would be interested in getting involved into the technical side as well. I am not actually interested in working twice as much for the same salary, however i feel like i am in a strong negociation position here Should i do something or just say no thank you?
