I’m an office manager/ admin for a small company. For the kind of work we do, our staff has to drive everyday and show up to locations. Every week at the end of the pay period, my boss has me put together a list of our staffs working hours and the time and mileage it took them to get there.
Here’s where the problem starts. Boss has me put in the distance between locations on google maps. if their time is more than what google maps says it takes, they don’t get paid for that. Also, they only get paid if they drive their own car and not the company vehicle.
Same thing with clocking in at location. If it takes them longer than expected at a location,boss has me edit their times down. On top of that, boss inputs our hours into the pay software we use manually. Meaning we only get paid for their best estimation. I know they’ve been doing this because in the last few months my paycheck hasn’t fluctuated one cent unless I miss a day.
Our workers deserve better than this, and so do i. How do we report this without getting fired?
