Ok so I work for a really large company, and in the company I work within a specific group comprised of mostly men. And this group of like 50 is divided into teams depending on what asset you sell. I happen to be on a team with 4 other men. It’s been awkward because we have nothing in common and it’s very much a “boys club”. But I’ve managed to find some common ground. I’m the admin for the team and am very much the outsider. This is petty but I’m just so fucking annoyed about Christmas. All the other admins were gifted cash,expensive gifts, etc. (the team leads we work for make MILLIONS). I was already feeling under appreciated and then when he didn’t even give me something as small as a tin of cookies it really just hurt my feelings. I love the company I work for but my boss is very cheap. He did take the team out for lunch but again— I’m the ONLY female, they talk about things and have a rapport that I’m just not apart of. It felt like punishment more than a reward or way to spread holiday cheer.
I’m grateful for everything in life I have been blessed with but it did annoy me seeing how the others admins were appreciated since I really care about the work I do and I do it well.
