I was just in a one on one meeting with my boss. One of the first things he mentions is that he heard I was going back to school. I told him that I didn’t tell anyone, and that it’s really no one’s business to know. He said that he heard it from his boss. I was pretty upset about it, because I felt it was a violation of my privacy.
Here’s the thing though, I’ve been active on LinkedIn recently, and I happened to add that I started going to school, and have been looking to change careers. I’ve already been unhappy with my current position ever since I got a new boss. Been putting far more work on me with absolutely no raise. So just a bit ago I was on LinkedIn and it showed that my boss, and his boss both viewed my profile in the last week despite that I don’t have either of them as a connection.
So I am not sure what to do. I feel upset about it. Just because my information might be public on LinkedIn doesn’t mean they have a right to bring it up when it has no relevance to my current position or my work performance. I still planned on working while going to school. Yet I admit that the thought of quitting so I could just focus on school has crossed my mind. In fact I’ve been wanting to quit not long after I got my new boss because the stress he puts on our team is almost unbearable sometimes. I have a bit saved up to last me a few months until I find something else.
I just feel so infuriated about it. Am I wrong? It Feels like it just reinforces me wanting to quit that much more.
