My boss reprimanded me for asking students not to talk about sex at work

I work at a college women’s center and we have a lot of student staff who hang out and do what kids do – gossip, talk about social media and tv, etc. That’s all fine, no problems with any of that. Last week the students began taking about a tv show with explicit sex scenes and began transitioning into talking about their personal sex lives and preferences. I told the students that those conversations are a no go at work and later let my manager know that we may need to have a larger conversation about work norms. My boss actually turned it around on me and said that we can’t censor students, it’s fine if they want to talk about that at work and I need to work harder to make sure they feel comfortable.
