She hired me to be the barista at a tech company a year ago. she stresses that her employees are like a family and that she gives people respect upon my hiring. I work 10-12 hour days running their coffee bar and doing the happy hour alone. Today she showed up to the happy hour space before i got there and surprised me when i walked in. she immediately reams me for having a dirty sweatshirt (dirty with milk from barista shift earlier in the day) tells me i must dress business casual and all black for the first time. she had gone to the coffee bar and taken photos of things she deemed too dirty and was upset i hadn’t deep cleaned the shelf for the syrups. She kept repeating that the tech company is so happy with me and has never ever complained about my work or appearance but that “ultimately she’s my boss and i’m not working up to her standards.”. I recently got a raise from the tech company that they told my boss to give me and to give me more hours. All this talking takes up the 30 minutes i have to set up the happy hour and i have to rush to set up and she leaves.
