My boss told me to lie to a customer today

For context I work in a McDonald's. My area has a high population of Muslim people, which I obviously have no issue with. We had a customer come in today and he asked me if our meat was Halaal. I didn't know the answer since I had never looked into it myself. So I just came up with the simple response “I know our fries are, but I'll ask about the meat for you” (I knew the fries were because some guy I work with pointed it out once that it's the only English sentence on the box) I went to the managers office and asked if my manager knew if the meat was Halaal or not. (I knew the fries were because some guy I work with pointed it out once that it's the only English sentence on the box)

I went to the managers office and asked if my manager knew if the meat was Halaal or not. She didn't even know what that meant, but she ended up googling it to be met with a quick “No, because it'd be too expensive”

She then turned to me and said “I know it says no, but it'd be great if you could say that they are just because we need to get sales up”

I was horrified

Why would I make an innocent man unknowingly betray his religious beliefs for the sake of some corporate entity (that's already worth billions) gaining more money?

I told the man that it unfortunately was not and he ended up not buying anything, but I am so mad that my manager would even suggest that

Anyways, if you read this far I will kindly ask you to consider the benefits of boycotting McDonald's and other major fast food chains, since there are much more shitty ethics going on behind the scene. This is just scratching the surface

Edit: I missed a whole 3 words
