I work in a seasonal job that starts at the end of April. Boss texts us today asking if we’re going to return with no prior warning or contact the entire winter season and wants an answer by the end of the day. I honestly have no fucking idea what I’m going to be doing right now as I’m a college student and need 3 internships to graduate in my major. I’m currently looking for internships and obviously if I find one I’ll take that and will only return to the seasonal job if I can’t get one. But there’s absolutely no way for me to fill out an application and get an answer on an internship in 8 hours to pass on to my seasonal boss. I understand wanting a response, but less than 24 hour notice? Really? I have absolutely no clue how I’m supposed to respond to this text, and it’s a little annoying how I am expected to have been planning my summer for this seasonal job with no prior information. I have other time commitments than this job.
Edit: Thank you all for the advice! I will let my
boss know that I’m looking for internships, but if they fall through I’d love to come back. I appreciate the help a lot!
