here’s the context: i get 14 an hour, i’m 19, and i work 39h a week. i’ve been working here since january and is the easiest job i’ve had. i get no pto, 401k, no health benefits, nothing.
now, my bosses, who are the store owners, are taking family leave for about a week or two since they’re having a baby. and me and my boss were talking about it, and she mentioned that they might put me on salary while they’re gone.
what?
did i hear that right?
you want to put me on salary?
me?
a person who gets 14 an hour, and no benefits?
if they do that, they’re doing it to avoid giving me overtime pay. so not only would i be salary for a week or two, i’d be getting more underpaid than i already am. i’m not fucking having it. i think she saw the face i made when she said that cuz she immediately followed with “we might just give you overtime. idk we’ll figure it out”
huh?? which is it then?
what do i do?? i am a hard worker, i’m competent and i’m a valuable asset to them, but they’re not acting like it. i’m young, are they trying to manipulate me? should i quit? make demands ? please help.
