It was time for our yearly raise negotiations and two other coworkers in my office got 17%. Then it was my turn and they explained how me taking too many sick days on top of my paid time off (17 whole days…) means I'm only getting 15%. I kinda shrugged cause honestly I expected less, and also 2% won't make me NOT stay home less when I'm sick lol
Anyway, they had the actual wage on the document they had me sign and in my head I'm like… “Hm… that seems… more than 15%… ” so after signing it I sat back down at my desk and actually did the math. It's 17% and I already made more than the other two people.
My guess is they calculated the 17%, came up with their method of “punishing” me for having the audacity to be sick, and then put the wrong number in the new contract. So now we have legal documents with both of our signatures giving me the raise I deserve instead of the one they wanted to give.
