My company is in absolute fallout

I work in union construction. I almost have 5 years in total but 3 with this company. I joined them bc they were larger than my previous employer which I took as being more professional. Oh boy was I wrong . There’s the owner, 7 people in the office and about 25 installers. The owner hasn’t been putting money back into the company for about 8 years now( from what I’m told) but it’s become very evident since the pandemic. He’s in his 70s(company started in 91) and is a big time gambler. He used to show up to job sites and talk to the workers, but now he comes in for a few min each Friday to grab money. That’s it Our fleet of work trucks to haul material or to actually do the job are ALL jimmy rigged to make it an extra day. Transmissions missing gears, engine…

That’s it

Our fleet of work trucks to haul material or to actually do the job are ALL jimmy rigged to make it an extra day. Transmissions missing gears, engine leak, tires bald, headlights/taillights out, body damage(some severe). Everything is constantly needing work but here’s the kicker – he fired our mechanic 2 years ago with no intention of finding a replacement. While we drive around in junk looking super unprofessional, he rolls up in this fire truck he just got from an auction . Literal facepalm.

We are a full year behind on paying our main material supplier (was told this from his 2nd in command and this bill alone is in the millions) Also behind on paying local distributors

Scaffolding, ladders, and lifts are wore out and unsafe. Safety gear is almost nonexistent so you’re better off buying yourself something good (such as harnesses, gloves, eye protection)

The warehouse has 3 sections. 1st one you pass coming in the gate is his personal space for his giant RV and old fire truck he bought at auction . The other 2 sections is main warehouse , then office on the end. He had asphalt guys come repair the parking lot( which was a relief ) but the new stuff starts at the gate and stops right after his personal area .

My union constantly busts them on not being up to date on our benefits or missing wages such as prevailing wage differential. I get a cease work notice(bc of missing benefits) from the union about every 3 months . Idk how much longer this company can last at this point. We are all too stressed , understaffed and overworked .

It’s like the famous burning zeppelin falling from the sky but at .10x speed
