Started my new job last month and am immediately noticing coworkers aren't getting breaks as promised.
Entitled to 2 15 minute breaks per day and one unpaid 30 minute lunch.
Well we start at 8. And some coworkers and i aren't taking lunch till about 3pm. And other coworkers aren't taking their 15s at all. I'll take my “15 minute” but it'll last maybe 4 minutes.
I remember reading here that if you don't take a half hour lunch break 5 hours after working you are entitled to time and a half.
Can anyone confirm or deny this? I tried looking it up and it seems this may only apply to minors
Edit: this is New Jersey. And it appears there is no guarantee of a break. Can anyone confirm for NJ specifically?
