Hey everyone,
I'm looking for some assistance (if even a push to a more accurate subreddit if this one isn't the best) regarding my former employer.
Today, at my new job, I received a shockingly threatening text from my old IT guy saying they can't sign into my old work computer with the password I gave them. (Even though I used that password for a year. I know what it is.) and now they are threatening me that I'll need to pay for that entire computer because of this seemingly bogus claim.
I now have on record via text from him that they could do a factory reset but they wanted to avoid that so instead of that they are threatening me with an invoice for the whole computer.
I wanted to see if anyone knew of any statute or anyone who knows of a statute in the state of Colorado regarding if it is at all legal for them to threaten me with this.
Now speaking personally, in my exit interview I told them off for some of their IMMENSELY shady business practices and they are the type to hold a grudge and punish people who defy them. I want to completely sever ties with these people but they are holding this threat over my head even though they have all of their property and the password that I know I used to sign in.
I don't want to give them other passwords of mine that would be a complete shot in the dark because I use them for other sites, my personal PC, etc. so I'd like to just respond with a statute and tell them to go kick rocks but I'm having trouble finding that.
If anyone can assist or push me in the right direction of someone who can I'd be very grateful.
Thanks so much for reading this novella and I hope you all get out of garbage jobs with capitalist knobs taking advantage of you. You're all worth so much more than they tell you you're worth and you should be compensated for that.
TL;DR: Old job threatening to make me pay for a computer that I gave back because they can't log in with the password I gave them. Even though it's the right password. Looking for a statute in Colorado that I can call out their BS. Down with Capitalism. Google Murray Bookchin.
